Research at the Institute of Development and Agricultural Economics

The Institute of Development and Agricultural Economics conducts research on rural development issues in emerging and developing countries in Asia and Africa. Research focuses on economic studies on rural development, the analysis of poverty dynamics and susceptibility to poverty as well as risk behaviour. A special focus is on the collection and provision of panel data within the framework of the Thailand Vietnam Socio Economic Panel (TVSEP) and related questions on data quality and error avoidance.

The institute maintains a number of collaborations with foreign research institutions, particularly in Asia: The Center of Agricultural Policy at Peking University, the College of Economics and Management at Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, China, the IPB University in Bogor, Indonesia and Thailand, Ubon Ratchathani University, Kasetsart University in Bangkok, and the Thailand Research and Development Institute. At the level of international organizations, there is regular research exchange with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
