Objectives The seminar is a course for students of the Area “Master Economics, International Environment and Development Studies”. Participants of the seminar are given two tasks. First, as a group work (max 3 persons per group) have to conduct a review of a scientific paper given to them. Second, as individual work, they have to write a proposal for a research project using the data of the Thailand Vietnam Socio Economic Panel (TVSEP; www.tvsep.de). The proposal has to be presented in a seminar. The seminar will be graded. The total grade consists of paper review, written proposal and presentation.
Prerequisites Basic knowledge of economics
Introductory course to academic research recommended
Formal guidelines Guidelines for scientific papers (on Stud.IP)
General literature Basic knowledge of business and economics
Basic literature to introduce each topic The student will get the article to review, and information for the project.
Methodology A mix of methodical approaches including qualitative and quantitative approaches with emphasis on the latter shall be used.
