Student-Internship with the WorldFish Center in Malaysia
The WorldFish Center is one of the 15 International Agricultural Research Centers under the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) sponsored by the World Bank. WorldFish’s research focus is on aquatic resources management worldwide. The Centre’s headquarter is located in Penang, Malaysia, but it conducts field programs in Asia and Africa.
WorldFish offers two student internships with a duration of 2 months to work under WorldFish’s program "Harnessing the development potential of aquatic agricultural systems for the poor and vulnerable" on the topic of “Pro-poor Business Models for Small-scale Aquaculture in Asia (BMSA)”.
The tasks will be carried out in two locations. One study is carried out in Cambodia the other one in Indonesia. Of the two month internship, one month will be spend at WorldFish Headquarters at Penang and the second month will be field work and data collection in the respective country. Costs of travel and subsistence are provided.
Start of Project: February/March 2012
Interested candidates should be BSc or MSc level students of economics, economic geography, social science or political science. Basic economic knowledge is required. With sufficient qualification the data collected during the internship could be used for BSc or MSC thesis to be supervised by the Institute of Development and Agricultural Economics (Prof. Dr. H. Waibel).
